EDCON 2026

ETHGlobal’s flagship Japanese hackathon brings several hundred developers together for three days of building on Ethereum and its layer twos, closing with live demos judged by protocol teams and sponsors. The room is almost entirely technical: students, independent developers and early-stage teams, with protocol developer relations staff working the floor rather than a mainstage audience of investors. For a project with a developer product, an SDK or a grants programme, this is one of the few formats where sponsorship converts directly into people shipping against your documentation in the same weekend. It is the wrong room for token marketing or retail acquisition. Tokyo also gives access to Japan’s developer base, which is large, under-served in English-language programming and rarely present at the European and American stops on the circuit.
